The Jaguars won’t be major players for former Patriots defensive end Mark Anderson, according to Tania Ganguli of the Florida-Union-Times.
Ganguli tweeted, “By the way, the #Jaguars aren’t going to be major players for former Patriots DE Mark Anderson.”
The Jaguars need to add another defensive end opposite Jeremy Mincey and their apparent lack of interest in Anderson could be a signal of their direction in the upcoming draft.
The Jaguars, who pick seventh overall, are in a perfect position to select the highest rated defensive end as the six teams above them have other needs. It is still unclear who the best defensive end in the 2012 draft class is, the debate is between North Carolina’s Quinton Coples and South Carolina’s Melvin Ingram.
