The Jaguars released outside linebacker Dan Skuta on Tuesday, freeing up $4.1 million in salary cap space, Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times Union reports.
Skuta was part of the Jaguars’ March 2015 free-agent blitz, signed to play strong-side linebacker. He appeared in 26 games (10 starts) and made 55 tackles (five for lost yardage) in 684 snaps. He missed time in 2015 with a groin injury and games last year with back issues.
Particularly for his salary, there wasn’t room for Skuta if the Jaguars as expected move Myles Jack to middle linebacker and Paul Posluszny to the strong-side spot.
