NFL Looking Into the Dante Fowler Altercation After TMZ Video

Dante Fowler

The NFL and the Jaguars reacted to a video released by TMZ on Tuesday that shows Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler watching two women fight, Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union reports.

The 29-second clip does not have audio. At no point in the video does Fowler assert himself physically into the confrontation. TMZ identifies the women only as the mother of his child and another woman “believed to be his girlfriend.”

The NFL released the following statement: “These are disturbing images and we will review the matter.”

The incident reportedly occurred on Feb. 1 at a Florida apartment building and takes place in a hallway outside of an elevator.

“Dante brought the incident to our attention prior to the video being released and was embarrassed and remorseful. Violence of this type against others is unacceptable in our society and to our organization. We will continue to look into the incident while offering resources and providing support to Dante and his family to help them through this private matter.”

There is no police report of the incident. Fowler did not return a message seeking comment, but did release a statement through the team.

“I am embarrassed and have apologized for my actions to everyone involved. As a family, we have been dealing with this moment and the conflict that led to it since this occurred. The video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happened.”
