Jaguars May Target OT Jake Matthews With Third Pick in Draft

Jake Matthews

The Jaguars had offensive tackle Jake Matthews in for a visit last Thursday and could be targeting the former Texas A&M standout with the No. 3 overall pick in next month’s draft, a league source told Michael DiRocco of

If the Jaguars were to select the 6-foot-5, 305-pound Matthews, who is the son of Hall of Fame offensive tackle Bruce Matthews, it would mark the second consecutive season they will have drafted an offensive tackle in the top three.

The Jaguars took Luke Joeckel, who also played at Texas A&M, with the No. 2 pick in 2013.

Offensive tackle is not among the Jaguars’ biggest needs — pass-rusher, quarterback and receiver are the top three.

But taking Matthews would help solidify the offensive line. The Jaguars signed guard Zane Beadles in March and installed him as the starter at left guard.
