Tebow could be a Jaguar by noon Wednesday

Tebow playing for the University of Florida - just 90 minutes from Jacksonville

The Jaguars are apparently serious players in trading for Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, and a deal could be in place for Tebow by noon on Wednesday, according to WKMG, an Orlando TV station.

They reported that Jaguars owner Shad Khan ended negotiations with Tebow late on Tuesday night and talks are scheduled to continue on Wednesday morning.

Michael Lombardi of NFL.com reported that five teams had contacted the Broncos about Tebow, and apparently Tebow has narrowed down those five to two; the New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A anonymous source close to Tebow said, “He’s totally willing to go to whatever place will give him the best situation as far as playing next season.”

That may not be Jacksonville who have 2011 first round draft pick Blaine Gabbert and recently signed Chad Henne on the roster, but the ownership are apparently very high on bringing in Tebow, who would certainly boost the Jaguars struggling fan base.

If the Jaguars do indeed trade for Tebow this could signal a change in direction in the Jaguars front office. as this move will have clearly come from above general manager Gene Smith.  There are already rumours in league circles that Smith may not be around after the NFL draft in April and signing Tebow could be a further indication of that.

Hmmm… couple of problems… WKMG is a TV station, not a radio station and the sports “reporter” for WKMG has a history of making things up, claiming unknown “sources” and being WRONG.

If he told me the sun was shining, I’d have to go check for myself.
