If Jags Move in Next Five Years, Kahn Has to Shell Out $25 Mil to Charity

As part of the purchase agreement between Jaguars outgoing owner Wayne Weaver and Illinois businessman Shahid Khan is a $25 million charitable donation should Khan move the franchise out of Jacksonville within the next five years, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.

The donation would be made to the charity of Weaver’s choice.

Slow ticket sales and the tarping of several sections of EverBank Field to avoid local television blackouts have placed the Jaguars at the top of the NFL’s relocation candidates list. However, Khan has said that he’s committed to making the NFL work in the city of Jacksonville, which the charity donation agreement attests to, and a rock solid lease all but assure that moving trucks won’t be backing up the team’s headquarters anytime soon.

As La Canfora notes, the clubs who are most relocate, with Los Angeles being a likely market, are the St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers, both of whom could find themselves in a shared facility in the city of angels.
