DE Aaron Kampman Goes on IR

Jaguars defensive end Aaron Kampman has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, John Oehser of Jaguars.com confirms.

Coming off a torn ACL that ended his 2009 season and tenure with the Green Bay Packers, Kampman signed a four-year, $25 million contract in 2010. In 11 games over two injury-shortened seasons with the Jaguars, Kampman recorded 25 tackles and four quarterback sacks.

Kampman suffered a torn ACL during a practice in the middle of the 2010 season and currently has a hamstring injury that has limited the 32-year-old to three games in 2011. Kampman has two years and $11.45 million remaining on his contract, including a $4.975 million base salary in 2012.

Kampman’s roster spot will be filled by tight end Colin Cloherty, who was promoted from the practice squad on Thursday night.
