Jaguars Place CB William Middleton on IR; Sign CB David Jones

The Jaguars have signed cornerback David Jones and placed cornerback William Middleton on injured reserve.

Jones, a 2007 fifth-round pick out of Wingate by the New Orleans Saints, started five games for the 2010 Jaguars, totaling 33 tackles and an interception. Jones previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, appearing in 33 games, including seven starts in 2008, and recording 56 tackles with seven passes defensed.

Jacksonville had acquired Jones from the Bengals in exchange for safety Reggie Nelson. Jones was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury in September, but was released on September 10 with an injury settlement.

Jones had workouts this season with the St. Louis Rams (9/21), Houston Texans (10/4), Denver Broncos (10/10), Washington Redskins (11/1) and the Bengals on November 8.

Middleton is a 2009 fifth-round pick out of Furman by the Atlanta Falcons who has been with the Jaguars the last three seasons. In 39 games, including nine starts, Middleton has 105 tackles, one quarterback sack and two interceptions. Middleton has 38 tackles and an interception in six starts of 11 games this season before injuring his knee.
