Jagaurs Want Fans to Buy Tickets for Monday to Welcome New Owner

The Jaguars have added incentive to fill EverBank Field Monday night when they host the Chargers. They will be welcoming their future owner, Shahid Khan, to his first game since his purchase of the team was announced.

“We want to send a strong message to the new owner that this community is behind the team,” said Macky Weaver, the team’s senior vice president, sales and marketing.

Weaver said ticket sales picked up Wednesday after team owner Wayne Weaver announced Tuesday that he was firing coach Jack Del Rio and selling the team. The Jaguars haven’t had any TV blackouts since 2009 and Macky Weaver was confident they would avoid one for the Chargers game even though they have more than 7,000 tickets left to sell as of Wednesday evening.
