CB Derek Cox Placed on IR

The Jaguars have placed cornerback Derek Cox on injured reserve.

Cox became the third defensive starter placed on IR in the past two weeks in addition to cornerback Rashean Mathis, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Indianapolis and linebacker Clint Session, who suffered a concussion in Cleveland. The Jaguars lead the league with 17 players on injured reserve.

Cox suffered a knee injury in Cleveland and exams shortly thereafter didn’t reveal a significant problem. He tried to practice on Wednesday and swelling in his knee increased. Cox then was placed on crutches so he could stay off his knee, but an MRI revealed that Cox would not be able to return for any of the Jaguars final six games.
