Jaguars Sign DE George Selvie and CB Ashton Youboty

The Jaguars announced the signings of cornerback Ashton Youboty and defensive end George Selvie.

A 2010 seventh-round pick out of South Florida by the St. Louis Rams, Selvie had 21 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks in 16 games as a rookie, but did not make their 53-man roster in 2011. Claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers, Selvie had two tackles in four games before he was placed on waivers in early October.

Selvie had a workout with the Detroit Lions on October 25.

Youboty’s signing was previously reported, initially by Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. Selvie’s signing was reported by Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.

The Jaguars had two open spots on their 53-man roster after placing offensive lineman Eben Britton, linebacker Korey Bosworth and cornerback Rashean Mathis on injured reserve. One of those spots was filled by tight end Fendi Onobun, who was signed off the Washington Redskins’ practice squad.
