Jaguars Ink P Nick Harris

The Jaguars have agreed to terms on a contract with free agent punter Nick Harris, Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Harris was among a group of at least four punters the Jaguars brought in for tryouts after veteran Matt Turk struggled during in Sunday’s 30-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Turk has been released to add Harris to the roster. The 43-year-old has been a hangtime/distance punter throughout his 16-year career and has been adjusting to a directional punting style with the Jaguars, who signed him to a one-year deal worth nearly $2 million in August.

The 33-year-old Harris was a fourth-round pick out of California by the Denver Broncos. Released by Denver, Harris has punted in 159 games for the Cincinnati Bengals (2001-03) and Detroit Lions (2003-10), posting a net average of 35.5 yards with 226 of his 804 punts placed inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

Harris was released by the Lions in September after losing a preseason competition to rookie Ryan Donahue.
