McCown Gets Game Ball for Executing Game Plan Perfectly Sunday

The Jaguars took a lot of heat after they dumped starting QB David Garrard five days before the opener. Those critics were a little more quiet on Sunday, this after Luke McCown executed the offensive game plan to perfection as the Jags beat the Titans 16-14.

For his efforts, McCown got an offensive game ball Monday. McCown didn’t have inflated numbers Sunday, but was confident and did what he was told, handing the ball off 12 of the Jags first 15 plays. The team wound up running 47 times and throwing just 24.

The game plan worked as the Jaguars held the ball for nearly 40 minutes. “Luke did a nice job doing exactly what he was asked to do,” Jack Del Rio said. “We executed the game plan and won the game.”

While this week it was the run game that did the job, you never know if McCown will have more chances to throw in the near future. “We’ll put a game plan together every week and go attack people the best way we can,” Del Rio said.
