WR Underwood Working Out with Cards Pro Bowl WR Fitzgerald

Jaguars wide receiver Tiquan Underwood is preparing for a make-or-break season by working out with Cardinals Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald at the University of Minnesota, Nick Condit of the Times of Trenton reports.

“I’m learning what it means to be a pro, and how to work like a pro,” Underwood said of the Minnesota workouts. “Learning from these guys is only going to help me.”

A seventh-round pick out of Rutgers in 2009, Underwood was waived by the Jaguars at the end of his first training camp and re-signed to the practice squad. Added to the active roster a few weeks later, Underwood has appeared in 13 games over the last two seasons, catching eight passes for 111 yards and averaged 23.0 yards on 26 kick returns.

Underwood knows he’ll have to fight for a roster spot this summer, so he’s eager to get back on the field to show the Jaguars and the 31 other teams what he’s capable of.

“Being a young player, I need all the opportunities I can get,” said Underwood. “I really can’t afford to start missing training camp or preseason games.

“No matter what happens by the end of the year, I plan on showing 32 NFL teams what I can do.”
