Top Ten All-Time Jaguars: #4 Rashean Mathis

We have officially hit the top 5 in the list of all-time great Jaguars, and while all these picks have not yet been easy the top five has to be the hardest to pick. The number four greatest Jaguar is another active player on the team and makes it here while being the best defender in Jaguars history.

He has come through with plenty of timely interceptions in his career and has made it hard for teams to want to pick on him. This man comes to us from Bethune-Cookman and hails from Nashville, Ga. The number 4 all-time greatest Jaguar:

4. Rashean Mathis Cornerback

Stats: Has played all of his 8 seasons in Jacksonville and has played in and started 116 games for the Jaguars. Mathis was a second round pick in 2003 out of Bethune-Cookman. In his career Mathis has 29 career interceptions which is the all-time best for the Jaguars, Mathis also had 8 interceptions during the 2006 season which is also the teams best for a single season.

Mathis was a Pro Bowl selection during the 2006 season because of his great defensive prowess. Mathis also has 409 tackles in his career which sits high on the list for Jaguars. Rashean also has 4 career touchdowns off of interceptions, one of which was a game winner, Mathis also has 2 postseason interceptions both against Pittsburgh one of which was a touchdown in helping the Jaguars win the game. Rashean also has 1 career sack and 3 forced fumbles. Mathis has 95 career defended passes for his career with the Jags.

Mathis belongs on this list because no one has had as much impact on this Jaguars defense like he has. He is the only player in team history to have double digit interceptions for their career. Mathis is also the man that covers the main receiver for the opposition and has made it tough for other teams to pick on him with his ability to find the ball and make a play on it. Now it’s on to the top 3 on this list and this is the toughest part of the list. Sitting at number three is a man that helped carry the torch for this blossoming franchise.

Umm, didn’t you just tell us that Donovan Darius had 14 interceptions in his Jaguar career? Last time I checked, D.D. not only stands for Donovan Darius but also “Double Digits” !!!!!!!!

Please, please, please, start checking your statistics and learn about your team. I have moved to 4 different states since the Jaguars inception yet know more about their history than you do simply from memory — and you’re paid to know! This is at least the second conspicuous error on your part, Mr. Spooner (see Brunell, Mark, #5, @ Denver.) And you’re the one ranking my team’s players?

PS: While I’m at it, please learn punctuation, too. Your sentences are often confusing due to your seemingly particular dislike of commas, among other punctuation devices, ploys, and trickeries known better by a secret society of second-graders than by you. Sorry to get so personal, but the evidence stands for all to read; just ask your editor/boss, who will hopefully remind you that you represent a team in the National Football League, not Bullwinkle’s alma mater — Whatsamatta U.!

      Hey, Steve

Thank you for a most courteous response to my gripes. You didn’t even nail me for misspelling ‘Donovan.’ Donovin was de stuff.
      Will keep up with you.

You are crazy. Sheen @ 4, absolutely overrated. Sheen gets burnt more than toast by good receivers, he tackles like crap. He only made one pro bowl. Need I say more. The only thing you ever see of Sheen in coverage is his braids flying as he is either getting beat deep and chasing a dude or whiffing on a tackle.
