Top Ten All-Time Jaguars: #6 Maurice Jones-Drew

Excitement is always a word that is synonymous with offense and the player that places number 6 on the Jags all-time list is full of excitement. While he may not be the biggest man on the field he is one of the fastest and craftiest. Hailing from Pinole, California and a second round draft pick from UCLA I give you the number 6 all-time Jaguar:

6. Maurice Jones-Drew Running Back

Stats: Has played all of his 5 seasons with the Jaguars, playing in 77 games and starting 34 of those games.

Since his rookie year Jones-Drew has been putting up all kinds of numbers and points. His 96 points in 2006 is the second most for a rookie in Jaguars history behind only Fred Taylor. Maurice has 54 career rushing touchdowns which is second in team history, his 16 total touchdowns in his rookie season are a Jaguars record for a rookie. His 15 rushing touchdowns in 2009 is also tops on the Jags all-time list.

Jones-Drew has 5248 career rushing yards on 1141 attempts which comes out to a 4.6 yard per carry average. Maurice was also a kick and punt returner for the team and his 2054 kick return yards stands as the best in team history. Jones-Drew had 2250 all-purpose yards in 2006 which is another record he holds and he holds the record for most all-purpose yards in a game with 303. Maurice’s 9530 career all-purpose yards stands as the third most of all-time with the Jaguars. Maurice is also a two time Pro Bowl selection getting into the game in 2009 and 2010.

Jones-Drew may still be an active player but even if his career ended today his numbers would still put him on this list. Jones-Drew trails very few people when it comes to touchdowns and yardage and with him still being young and with the team he looks to shatter every record he possibly can and make his case to push to the top of this list. The next selection brings us to the top 5 of the list and he still plays and is an original Jaguar after they traded for him when he backed up a future Hall of Fame quarterback.
