Defensive end Aaron Kampman’s first season with the Jaguars ended the same way his eighth and final season with the Packers did: On injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Signed to a four-year, $25 million contract last March, Kampman tore the ACL in his right knee in a November practice, less than a year after team the ACL in his left knee. Kampman is expected to be ready for training camp, and told Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union that he’s training as he normally would in the off-season.
“It’s been great,” Kampman said of of his knee “I’m training like I normally would train, I don’t know why–well I kind of know why, I heal really well from these major injuries. Hopefully I don’t have to do anymore of them.”
The Jaguars did not address their pass rush in the 2011 NFL Draft. With second-year defensive ends Austen Lane, Larry Hart, and Aaron Morgan unable to work with defensive line coach Joe Cullen this off-season, the Jaguars will need a healthy Kampman to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks next season.
