Jaguars-Giants Fourth Quarter Recap

The Giants continue with their drive from the third quarter and score just over a minute into the last quarter. The team drove 88 yards for this TD and took great advantage of the Jaguars pass defense. The Giants went for two, and Bradshaw ran it in, tying the game at 17.

This fourth Jaguars drive of the half sees them running the ball effectively, which limited them from 3rd and long situations. However, they would end up facing a 3rd and 8 but could not get the first down. On the 4th and 8, Josh Scobee would score on a 42-yard field goal, Jaguars leading 20-17.

Giants did nothing-gained 2 yards- on their next drive and punted the ball. Mike Thomas returned the ball 3 yards to the Jaguars 26. Garrard would throw a 23 yard pass to Mike Thomas but that was negated by an offensive pass interference call against Kasim Osgood. The Jaguars then had to go 20 yards to get a first down but only got 1 yard. The Jaguars ended up with a 3 and out.

The Giants were determined to score on their next drive and they did. Facing a 3rd and 10, Manning passed the ball to Kevin Boss and a missed tackled and 32 yards later, the Giants would score a TD. Giants up 24-20.

On the ensuing drive, the Jaguars started with the ball at their 27-yard line. Garrard had 3 passes go for 39 yards and that helped moved the chains. Facing a 3rd and 10 at the Giants 34, the Jaguars couldn’t get the first down, but a holding penalty against the Giants gave the Jags a fresh set of downs. On that new set of downs, Garrard first got sacked for 11 yards. Facing 2nd and 21, Garrard lost the football but recovered it, but still lost 5 yards. On 3rd and 26, Garrard got knocked from behind, lost the football, and Giants FS Antrel Rolle recovered the ball. With the Giants leading 24-20 and 1:25 remaning, it was over for the Jaguars. No dramatic finish and the 3-game winning streak would be snapped.
