Thoughts and Musings on Texans-Jaguars

(I meant to get this on here earlier, but was unable to do so until now. Aside from the “Game Reviews” following the games, I will post this “Thoughts and Musings” on the following day. I must credit for this format. I thought it was interesting and want to try it on this site. Let me know what you think.)

Facts: The offense being on fire and the defense being terrible. The offense put up nearly 500 yards, but they won’t be doing this week in and week out. The defense needs to step up. Now.

Quotable: “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee”- Jack Del Rio

The Stat: 29 first downs. The Jags kept moving the chains which allowed them to put up points on the board.

Turning Point: Jaguars getting the ball back with 0:08 seconds left in the game.

Hot: David Garrard, averaging 301 passing yards and 3 touchdowns in the last 2 games.

Not: Jaguars defense. No sacks or interceptions were recorded by the defense. The offense is carrying the Jags as of late, but the defense needs to step up if the Jags are serious about making the playoffs.

Quotable II: “Oh my goodness! Did he really just tap it to me?”- Mike Thomas as told to Peter King of SI.

Fantasy Spotlight: Garrard obviously has been hot for fantasy owners lately but MJD gets the nod here. 100 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns is good production for a fantasy running back.

Good Move: The Jaguars electing to go for the Hail Mary on the last play of the game. The team could have easily taken a knee and take the game to OT and take their chances but Jack Del Rio did a great job calling the Hail Mary.

Bad Move: Texans DB Glover Quin, electing to tip the ball down instead of intercepting the ball. I know, I know, defensive players are told to knock ball down in such situation but Quin should have gone for the INT.

Rookie Watch: None.

Notable: Even though Quin’s tipped ball cost the Texans the game, he actually lead all defenders from both teams with 13 tackles.

Up Next: Peyton Hillis and the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are playing some good football as of late and the Jaguars cannot afford to make them lightly.
