Jaguars win in thrilling fashion, beat Texans 31-24

Unbelievable! That is what went through my mind when the Jaguars pulled out a win on the very last play of their game against the Texans.

With the game tied at 24-24 and just 3 seconds left, David Garrard took the snap and launched the ball 50 yards down the field praying for a touchdown. The Hail Mary prayer was miraculously answered when a Texans defender tipped the ball down into Mike Thomas’ hands and he would walk in for the touchdown.

As was expected, this game left a lot to be desired on the defensive side of the ball for both teams. The defenses allowed a total of 57 points in a game dominated by offense. The Texans continued their aerial assault with Matt Schaub throwing for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns. Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson had 146 yards and a touchdown.

The Jaguars however showed the Texans that their offense is just as good, if not better. The Jaguars racked up 491 yards of total offense. Garrard is continuing to have success this season, as he passed for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns; the first touchdown coming on a 52-yard pass to TE Zach Miller.

The Jags’ running game was successful as well. MJD rushed the ball 24 times for 100 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. Garrard added 35 rushing yards on 7 attempts.

This was a game that the Jaguars had to win and one has to be impressed on how the team has fared so far this season. They have had some bumps in the road, but I am really impressed by the effort they have showed during the last few weeks.

I surely hope that the team enjoys this one. Not only have the Texans lost three in a row, putting them in last place, the Tennessee Titans also lost to the Miami Dolphins. If the Jaguars continue to their work from here on out and worry about their business, they will be making some noise in the AFC playoff picture.

Ever since the Jags picked up Didier Boursiquot, they have been on a tear!
