What a game.
The Jaguars showed earlier today that they were more than ready to take on the Dallas Cowboys. David Garrard accounted for all 5 touchdowns on his way to dropping the Cowboys to 1-6. While he did not have a perfect QB rating, in my eyes he played a perfect game. His four touchdown passes were a career high. The Jaguars are now 4-4 and are heading into the Bye Week with lots of confidence before they take on the second half of the season.
Maurice Jones-Drew filled in nicely as well, rushing the ball 27 times for 135 yards. The Jaguars, coming off consecutive losses of 22 and 27 points showed that they are not ready to fall out of contention for the playoffs. The team was inspired throughout the game which culminated in a great game for a number of players.
WR Mike Sims-Walker finished the game with 8 receptions for 153 yards and 1 touchdown; his receiving yards being a career-high. Marcedes Lewis had two TD receptions, and Mike Thomas had the other.
All this however would not have been possible without the terrific game of the defense. The defense intercepted starting QB Jon Kitna four times. Two of the interceptions were recorded by Derek Cox. The other interceptions were by Rashean Mathis and Terrence Knighton. Coming into the game, the Jaguars defense as a whole had recorded 4 interceptions in the first 7 games.
Jags fans could not have asked for a better game. They played great all around. The team should enjoy this win for the next 24 hours and find ways to keep this going in the second half of the year.
