Jags and Del Rio send Derrick Harvey to the bench

Jack Del Rio and the Jags have made a pretty strong statement, as they are benching former first-round draft pick Derrick Harvey, moving up Jeremy Mincey to the starting lineup.

Harvey, the eighth overall pick from Florida in 2008, has started 39 games, including 24 in a row. He’s been nothing short of a bust, and deserves to be on the bench.

Harvey, the defensive MVP of the 2006 Bowl Championship Series title game, has 126 tackles and just six sacks despite playing every game in his three seasons.

Mincey, another third-year player from Florida, will start Sunday at Dallas.
