Jags fill Smith’s roster spot by inking free agent cornerback Chevis Jackson

The Jaguars have filled their open roster spot of safety Anthony Smith by signing free agent cornerback Chevis Jackson, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Jackson (5-11, 193) was a third-round pick out of LSU by the Atlanta Falcons in 2008. In 31 career games, including three starts, Jackson totaled 60 tackles, 1 quarterback sack, and an interception, which he returned 95 yards for a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints during his rookie season.

Jackson had 19 tackles and an interception for the Falcons during the pre-season, but was waived as part of the team’s cut down to a 53-man roster.
