Garrard Throws 3 TD’s, Jaguars Pummel Bills 36-26

On any given Sunday this season, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard – depending on the opponent – has put out efforts that have ranged between efficient and downright awful. And you know that has to frustrate head coach Jack Del Rio.

Sunday’s game between the Jaguars and Buffalo Bills would see the good version of Garrard as he threw for 3 touchdowns, two of them to tight end Marcedes Lewis, as Jacksonville clawed up the Buffalo Bills 36-26.

The Jaguars tied the game at 13 on a Garrard-to-Lewis 1-yard TD toss with 25 seconds left in the first half. Both would hook up again – this time for 27 yards – three plays into the third quarter, with Deji Karim setting up the score on a 51-yard kickoff return to the Buffalo 39.

The Bills squandered several opportunities to score in the fourth quarter; down 30-20 with 10 minutes left in the game, punter Brian Moorman, in a fake-punt attempt, gained just a yard on a foruth-and-7. While Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with Steve Johnson on a 7-yard score, the two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Garrard reverted to his usual efficient self, going 16-of-20 for 178 yards with 3 TDs and an interception while Fitzpatrick went 20-of-30 for 220 yards and three scores.

Maurice Jones Drew, as usual, led the Jaguars rushing attack as he rushed for 84 yards on 19 carries while Karim ran for 70 yards. the Bills were led by Fred Jackson with 73 rushing yards while rookie C.J. Spiller ran for 31 yards on just 5 carries.

Lewis led all Jaguars receivers with 4 catches for 54 yards and 2 TDs while Mike Thomas caught 4 for 51 yards; Mike Sims-Walker caught 4 for 46 yards.

Lee Evans led seven Bills receivers with 5 receptions for 87 yards and a TD while Roscoe Parrish caught 4 for 58 yards; Johnson caught 5 for 46 yards and a pair of TD receptions.

Jacksonville (3-2) take a 2-game winning streak back home as they host the Tennessee Titans one week from Monday while winless Buffalo (0-5) enjoys a bye week.
