Goodell Says the League Stands Behind a Team in Jacksonville

Roger Goodell spoke about the Jags and the fan base supporting the team. He says that the league is still in favor of a team in J-Ville, and there is great support behind the Jags from a league standpoint.

“We want this team to be successful and we want it to be here,” Goodell said. “We just want to make sure that we’re playing in front of large audiences and hopefully sold-out audiences because that’s what we do expect in the NFL.

“There’s a tremendous fan base for football. It exists down here and I think Wayne (Weaver) and the Jaguars provide a tremendous leadership to help put the best product on the field, and I think the business community here is proving great leadership to talk about this team.

Last season 9 of the teams 10 home games were blacked out, and it looks as if they easily could be heading down that same path for 2010.
