Rookie DE Austen Lane to push Derrick Harvey for playing time?

Jaguars.com senior editor Vic Ketchman writes that he feels Jaguars rookie defensive end Austen Lane will give incumbent starter Derrick Harvey some serious competition at the left end spot during training camp. Lane has flown under the radar in the press after he sustained a hamstring injury early in mini-camp and was unable to practice the rest of the weekend, but his strength is playing against the run and general manager Gene Smith immediately said Lane will be a left end. Harvey hasn’t been very impressive in his two seasons, accumulating only 5.5 sacks in 32 games and 25 starts. Although he has developed into a very strong run defender at the DE spot, the “bust” talks will continue until he starts to bring the quarterback down.
