The Jaguars today announced the release of fourth-year OT Charles Spencer and second-year FB Anthony Cotrone.
Spencer’s job became expendable after the Jaguars spent their first two draft picks last weekend’s NFL draft on offensive tackles. Spencer was a third-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2006 and was signed by the Jaguars as a free agent on Sept. 3, 2008. A source said Spencer practiced really well late last season and looked to be all the way back from a severe knee/leg injury which caused him to miss all but two games over the first two seasons of his career.
Cotrone joined the club as a rookie free agent in 2008 but spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve.
