Jones Ordered to Drug Court; Will Avoid Jail Time

It looks as if WR Matt Jones is going to get off rather light from his arrest on cocaine possession back on July 10th. Prosecutor John Threet said his office reached an agreement with Jones on Tuesday to send the case to drug court instead of in the regular criminal system, where he could have gotten jail time.

The conviction will also be kept off his record if he pays a fine and completes a drug treatment program. “I think the fact that he’s worked something out that seems to make sense, I think that’s great,” Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Wednesday. Jones was rumored to be on his out this season with the Jags, but instead leads the team with 23 catches for 269 yards and a touchdown after five games.
