Jags Injury / Transaction Report

The Jaguars only have three significant long-term injuries heading into the Week 1 preseason game vs. the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, 8/9. WR Reggie Williams is still out indefinitely after knee surgery last week, but he should be fine for the start of the regular season. WR Jerry Porter, recovering from hamstring surgery, is also out indefinitely and will not suit up at all during the preseason. The Jaguars hope he will be ready to go by the Week 1 regular season game vs. the Tennessee Titans. C Brad Meester is out for 8-10 weeks after surgery on his right bicep last week. The Jaguars expect him back around October.

In other injury news, LB Clint Ingram hurt his ankle earlier in the week during practice. His status for Saturday’s game is unknown at this time, but expect to see LB Justin Durant getting more playing time if Ingram is absent. FB Anthony Cotrone (knee) and DT Theo Herrocks (foot) were placed on the injured/waived list this week.

The Jaguars resigned former TE Isaac Smolko on 8/4. Also, the Jaguars signed DT Tywain Myles to replace Herrocks, only to release Myles one day later due to his poor conditioning. To replace Myles, the Jaguars have signed DT Jesse Mahelona, whose previous teams included Atlanta, Tennessee, and Miami.
