Breaking Down the Jaguars Roster Cuts
The Jaguars cut to 53 didn’t offer too many shockers.
But there were a few guys that the Jaguars let go that look like they can play.
Here is a breakdown of the Jaguars openind day roster by position along with my analysis:
QB(2): David Garrard, Cleo Lemon
Analysis: Jack Del Rio saw enough out of Cleo [...]
Bouman, Woods Among Jaguars Cuts
The Jaguars will begin the 2008 season with only two quarterbacks on the roster.
Todd Bouman was one of 19 players let go by the Jaguars as Jack Del Rio cut his roster down to the league mandated 53-man squad.
Bouman outplayed backup quarterback Cleo Lemon through most of the preseason, but it wasn’t enough to keep [...]

Today the Jags worked their roster to get down to 53 players. Gone are QB Todd Bouman, RB Ciatrick Fason, LB Tony Gilbert, DT Jesse Mahelona, DE Kenny Pettway and DE Bo Schobel. Teams will now start to tweak their roster that the cut down moment is fast approaching. Today the Jags started that as the team put TE George Wrighster on the PUP list. He will not be eligible to practice or play in the first six weeks of the regular season. He has 92 career receptions [...]

Jags WR Dennis Northcutt may find himself answering some questions, as he is being sued by a pregnant woman saying that he arranged for his cousin to beat her up. Sharri Henry, who claims to be four months pregnant with Northcutt’s baby, filed the lawsuit Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She accuses Northcutt of [...]

According to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, the Derrick Harvey holdout is officially over. On the 33rd day of the holdout, Harvey decided take the Jaguars? last offer, although the incentives were modified to make them easier to get.
Harvey will get $17.175 million in guaranteed money, $23.8 million in base package and $33.4 million [...]
Rookie Harvey and Jags Finally Come to Terms
ESPN is reporting that Derrick Harvey has agreed to a 5 year, $30-million contract that includes just over $17-million in guaranteed money.
If true, Harvey’s team record 33-day rookie holdout would be over. Harvey wouldn’t likely be available for tomorrow night’s game against the Redskins, but the next question would be about his availability for the [...]
Jaguars Trim Roster to 75 Players
The Jaguars released 5 players to get their active roster to 75 players.
WR John Broussard
WR Jeron Harvey
WR Clyde Edwards
DE Alex Boston
TE Isaac Smolko
None of the cuts are that surprising as these players were really nothing more than camp bodies. Broussard was a 7th round pick in 2007, and seemed to flash decent speed at [...]
Commentary: Jaguars Don’t Look Like a Super Bowl Team Yet
Let me preface this by saying that the bar has been set much higher for the Jaguars this year. Being in the mix for a playoff spot isn’t enough. This off-season, championship expectations developed and so it is against that backdrop that I say this.
The Jaguars don’t strike me as a championship team.
Here’s why:
The three [...]
Wounded Jags Update
Coach Jack Del Rio commented Monday on two injured players considered key cogs in the Jacksonville offense: RB Maurice Jones-Drew and WR Jerry Porter.
Jones-Drew sustained an ankle injury in Saturday night’s preseason game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not return. Del Rio called the injury “mildly sprained,” which means that he likely [...]
