The Jaguars head into Gillette Stadium Saturday night hoping to do something no other NFL team has done this season – beat the New England Patriots. The Jags pulled out a thrilling 31-29 wild card win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Jacksonville blew an 18-point lead before pulling out the win on Josh Scobee’s 25-yard field goal with 37 seconds to play. If the Jags are to beat the Pats, they’ll need a better performance from quarterback David Garrard, who was just 9-of-21 for 140 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions against the Steelers. Jacksonville is 6-and-3 on the road this season.
After becoming the first team in NFL history to win all 16 regular season games, New England looks to ride the momentum to another Super Bowl title. Tom Brady threw for an NFL-record 50 touchdown passes with only eight interceptions to win MVP honors this season. Randy Moss hauled in a single-season record 23 of those TDs. The Pats beat the Jags 28-3 in Foxboro in the first round of the playoffs in January 2006. New England also posted a 24-21 win at Jacksonville last season.
