Jones-Drew Fined $7,500 for Goal Post Celebration

Drew celebrates

When are players going to learn that they cannot do these elaborate TD celebrations anymore?  That is unless they want to just keep shelling out money to the league.  Jags back Maurice Jones-Drew is the latest to draw such a fine, this one in the amount of $7,500 for using the goal post to simulate an ATM machine after he scored on a 52-yard touchdown vs the Chiefs last week.

“It was pretty cool,” Jones-Drew said. “We laughed our way all the way to the bank.”  Must not have been that funny writing that check – eh Drew?  The league put the rules in there for a reason, and while some think the NFL stands for “No Fun League” I for one agree that I don’t want to see every score followed by some stupid celebration that includes props and all the rest.

Jones-Drew, 22, has a base salary of $360,000 for 2007, so losing $7,500 is just a little chunk of change, but come on Drew – use your head – act like you’ve been there before.
