OT Barnes Slams Mercedes Against Tree
Jaguars offensive tackle Khalif Barnes is in hot water again, as he was cited for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and violating a term of his probation. Barnes was involved in a one-car accident when his Mercedes slammed into a tree. The tackle called the police to the accident near his home on Saturday morning, but when officers arrived, Barnes was nowhere to be found. He was not at his home either. The police did find the vehicle, which was against a tree, as well as Barnes’ keys.
The attorney for Barnes, Henry Coxe claimed that the OT was driving from home to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for treatment early Saturday he fell asleep at the wheel. Barnes had been suspended for one game for last year for a DUI. He had no official comment on the latest incident. Greg Aiello of the NFL said the incident would be reviewed by the commissioner’s office.
