Punter Wilbur Lasts Less Than 24 Hours on Roster
Posted by Matt Loede on August 9th, 2007 filed in NewsSo much for the career of Jags punter Eric Wilbur. The Florida punter worked out for Jacksonville on Tuesday, signed a contract, and was let go before the team even took the field for practice on Wednesday. The 22-year-old led the Southeastern Conference as a senior with 42.3-yard punting average, but it was not enough to even last 42 hours on the Jaguars roster. Wilbur had taken the roster spot of fellow punter Tony Yelk. Coach Jack Del Rio stated that the team expects to bring in another punter or kicker to help keep the legs of current punter Adam Podlesh and kicker Josh Scobee fresh.
