WR Wilford Goes Down in Practice

Wilford hurt

The Jags had a tough practice on Tuesday, as wide out Ernest Wilford went down after catching a pass grabbing his left knee. He was helped off the field by two members of the Jags staff as the receiver could not put any weight on the leg. Later on a team spokesman stated that the injury is a mild sprain, and they are awaiting the results on a MRI exam, but the team is stating though they hope to have him back by the end of the week. “He’s been having a great camp,” new wide receivers coach Todd Monken said. “He works awfully hard on maximizing his ability.” Right now the Jags top wide outs are Dennis Northcutt, who came to the team via free agency this offseason, Wilford, Charles Sharon and Matt Jones in the slot. Reggie Williams along with rookies John Broussard and Mike Walker are behind the starters. “It is what it is,” Monken said. “Guys take reps based on where they’re at. If they [Williams and Jones] can’t figure it out, you can’t paint more of a vivid picture. It’s time for Reggie and Matt to do it. If not now, when?”
