Jags and Fifth-Round Pick DT Landri Come to Terms

The Jaguars have come to terms with the last of their fifth-round picks on Tuesday, as the team announced the signing of defensive tackle Derek Landri. With the signing, the only two players that are not signed from the 2007 Draft Class include safety Reggie Nelson and linebacker Justin Durant. Nine of the 11 draft picks are signed and ready to go for the Jags. Landri agreed to the standard four-year rookie contract year with minimum salaries of $285,000, $370,000, $460,000 and $550,000, plus an escalator clause based on playing time that could boost the fourth-year base salary. He’ll also receive a signing bonus in the $150,000 range.

The DT from Notre Dame had 34.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 10 QB sacks in the 47 games he played there. He also set a record for Notre Dame with four blocked kicks in one season. Landri already has a friend in the Jags, as he played high school football at De La Salle in Concord, Calif., with current Jags running back Maurice Drew. The team did not lose a game while they were teammates.
