All Quiet on the Culpepper Front for the Jags

The Jags are still mum about the possibe chance of going after former Vikings and Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper. At one point many thought that Jacksonville was the front runner for the shot to get Daunte after he was released, but Paul Vance, the team’s senior vice president, stated on Tuesday that the team has no official comment on Culpepper joining the roster. Culpepper has been somewhat quiet since his release from Miami last week. He did meet with Tampa Bay about joining their squad, but other than that not much has happened on that front.

At one point the Jags had told Byron Leftwich and the other QB’s on the roster that they would be going after Culpepper should be become a free agent. Now that he is though, not much has happened. The other team that is surely going to take a look at Culpepper is the Atlanta Falcons, who right now are in dire straits with the Michael Vick situation. Joey Harrington is going to open training camp as the starter, but there is a solid chance they are going to at least speak to Culpepper at some point in the next week to 10 days.
